How New Year Celebrations Take Place in Denmark?
It is a tradition to listen to the Queen’s speech on this very day by the people of Denmark. The speech starts at 6 and it is only after this that the people start getting ready for the celebrations with a glass of champagne.
Many restaurants also decide on New Year special menus, just like the way in which many night and music clubs offer extravagant New Year packages with a free entry, free bar as well as unlimited champagne. The traditional "kransekage" (which basically means wreath cake) is also cut when the clock strikes 12 and the New Year kicks in.
At exactly 12pm, it’s a tradition for the Danish people to gather on the Town Hall Square, located at the very heart of Copenhagen, to hear the clock tower ring on the occasion of the New Year.
