Nevruz Celebrations in Albania
Locals on the day of Nevruz visit the beautifully marbled Tekke located at Tirana, Albania’s capital city. This marks an important event for the natives of the Bektashi Community since it unites all political and religious figures of the country. These leaders are seen visiting the Bektashi World Sanctuary on this day and pay their respects. Locals can also buy souvenirs located at the Tekke and offer them as a gift to their loved ones. Believers pay their respects early morning, drink milk and herb juice, thereby symbolising the purification of mind, body and soul. They wear new clothes, sing devotional songs dedicated to Sultan Nevruz and gorge on delicious feasts and savoury pies.
