New Year in Azerbaijan is celebrated with great pomp and show among Christians. Some of the main symbols of New Year in Azerbaijan are Father Frost with Snow Maiden, a New Year Tree decorated with different ornaments and so on. In the local Azerbaijan language, Father Frost is fondly known as Shakhta Baba and known to adorn a blue-coloured fur coat instead of the traditional red coat, and Snow Maiden is called as Karkyz.
