Eid al-Qurban Holiday 2022 in Afghanistan

Preparations for Eid al-Qurban 2022, popularly as Eid al-Adha in Afghanistan, begin two or three days before. This day commemorates Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his own son Ismael to Allah without any question or hesitation. As per the Islamic Calendar, this day concludes Hajj rites in the Holy Mecca. Muslims on this day clean their houses and expect guests, family members, friends, loved ones etc. to visit. Men wear new clothes, and women and girls apply Henna on their hands. Morning prayers are offered together in the Mosques, after which people greet each other by saying “Eid Mubarak”. This day is special for kids and young ones since they are offered monetary gifts called Eidi from their elders and parents.
